Faux embers for your faux fireplace

I measured out my small fireplace floor area and used masking tape on some clear plastic drop cloth so I would know how big I could make it. I didn't use the plastic bottles. I just sprayed directly on the plastic drop cloth. The spray gap filler grows rather a lot so use sparingly. I ended up cutting out most of the inside foam so the lights would show through better. The paint and ashes cover a lot of the light.
I used orange LED lighting in two different forms. First, I used two small strings that stayed on steady. I hid the tiny battery packs behind the logs after turning them on. Next, I used a longer strand that has a remote that I chose "slo glo". This really sells the illusion of embers glowing and waning. LED also doesn't get hot so there isn't a fire hazard. I wound the strands together randomly so the steady on and "slo gliw" lights are mixed together. Then I shoved all that inside the foam ember shell.
I put some logs on top of that. I also used some burned pieces of wood from our outdoor fire pit and added those to the edges of the faux embers.
