Summer 2013 Garden Bust-tastic

This summer in the garden was a bust. Just keeping it real! Several factors lead to this suckbustfest (update- I'm trying to stop saying "suck". I just noticed that I had it all over this blog post. LOL). First, we had a night creature that ate innumerable amounts of baby plants and seeds. I had to plant over and over until I got a clue and got the water scarecrow. Saved my sanity! So, on top of the late start, we had a very cool spring. The plants just didn't want to budge. When it got warm, it was really too late for these guys. Now I have tomatoes and pepper plants in a holding pattern. I am trying to keep them alive for their second wind in the cooler fall temps. I'm spraying with my organic 3 in 1 spray and the bugs and fungus' are being held at bay. Not sure how long they will hold out but here's hoping!

I'm looking forward to my fall crops. I love broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach and swiss chard. If we get fall tomatoes and peppers, I'll be a very happy gardener.
