About Chaos and Submission

Do you know those people who complain over and over about having no friends, a sour marriage, a house that is a wreck, disobedient children, crazy schedule, money problems and a disorganized mind.  Taking a closer look, I see the same thread over and over. These are people who refuse to submit to authority.

Romans 13:1-7 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

1 Peter 5:5 - Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all [of you] be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

By not submitting to authority, you are setting an awful example for your children. Guess who is in authority over your children? Umm hmmm. You don't submit to authority so why should they?  Not only will they not submit to the authority of their parents, they won't submit to the laws of the land or to God.  Now you have a huge problem.

Submitting is freeing -
How much time and energy have you wasted already trying to accomplish nothing? You are walking around with a bad attitude. Who wants to be friends with that? You have spent oodles of time going in circles when you could have been doing something productive like tackling your laundry or serving your neighbor. Those in authority over you have to take the heat if something isn't going right. That is so freeing!

Submitting to your husband -
I was raised to be strong and independent. Nothing wrong with that. However, submitting to one's husband was not modeled in my home when I was being raised. It made it so difficult for me when I got married. God's still working on this in me. I will tell you that when I have submitted, the blessings have been abundant. I received a high compliment from a dear friend not long ago. She told me that she had seen a big change in me from my early years of marriage until now. She had seen me become a woman that loved and respected her husband and his opinion. A domineering woman is not a beautiful thing. I am afraid that is exactly what I was early in our marriage. I am so glad that God is changing me and that others can see the change.

Submitting to God -
That's a heart change my friends. It's coming to the realization that God loves you and wants the best for you. When you realize this, it is easier to stop and ask God what he wants you to do ahead of time instead of plunging headfirst into your plans and asking God to bless them on the backend. Do I always do this? No. That's still a work in progress. I'm getting better at it as my relationship with God grows.

Submitting to your homeschool leaders -
You knew it was coming...The leaders of your homeschool group or co-op have a tough job. They are trying to listen to God's direction. You bucking them at every opportunity is a huge distraction. So, what should you do if you disagree with them? You can pray for them and serve them. By serve them I mean asking them what you can do to help them fulfill their duty. Dear clueless one: They receive their authority from God. When you buck them, you are telling God He doesn't know what He is doing. You don't want to go there.

There are rules in these groups. When you have large numbers of people, rules are necessary.  Homeschoolers, by nature, are rebels. Rebels don't like rules. When you don't follow the rules, the leaders have to take time and focus away from serving the group to focus on you. Do you need attention that badly?  That makes me so sad for you.

So, if your life is in chaos, take a minute and examine. Are you submitting to authority in your life?
