A few items off the list

This month we were able to gather some of the items on our 3-month stock up list. I found a great sale on sugar and used two coupons to bring the price down even further. I sealed each of these bag in a ziplock bag to keep the sugar ants out.

I also hit a sale on bacon. What I normally do is divide up the bacon pack into sets of four pieces of bacon (that's how many we consume at a meal). Then I put all the sets into a bag, make sure there is space between each set and freeze them. Each bag is marked with the date. When I need bacon for breakfast, it is easy to pull out a set and defrost it in the microwave and then cook.

I also found cans of our favorite beans brand, Trappey's, on sale and stocked up on a variety of beans that we enjoy.

As an added bonus to all this 3-month shopping, we got some items free at our local grocery store by taking advantage of these specials. Two of these free items were cookies much to my sons' delight!

All of these items are located in a large box at the bottom of my pantry to be used in our meals as needed. I'll go "shopping" in my 3-month supply and put the item on my shopping list to be replaced. My pantry and freezer are already bursting. We will be taking advantage of empty space under beds soon.

My next project is to organize my freezer a little better. I'm on the search for plastic milk crates. Each crate will contain a different food item and make it easy to organize and get to the items I want.

We are off to a great start to our list.
