The miracle of the wedding band

Today I had to have my wedding ring cut off of my hand. I've been married for 20 years and have only removed it once for a repair. That was 14+ years ago and it hasn't left my hand since. I shower with it, sleep with it, cook and clean with it. It was becoming a part of my hand... a permanent and dangerous part. Any injury to my hand could have caused me to lose my finger so it had to come off. It made me sad to have it removed but in a week or so my finger will be back to normal and I will have it resized. It isn't a large diamond or an expensive ring. We had no money when we bought it. But I love the simple design. It reminds me of where we started.
Fourteen (14) years ago I thought I had lost one of tiny diamonds on the wedding band. My husband and I were seperated at the time. It was a horrible chapter in my life. I still wore my ring and looked down to see that one of the tiny diamonds was lost. It was very symbolic of this turbulent time. I took it to the jeweler who looked through her eyepiece and confirmed it was missing a stone. She even let me look through the eyepiece and it was definitely gone. I got a quote to replace the stone and left the ring for the repair.

I came back a week later to pick up my ring. There was a note with the ring that said that the diamond was not replaced because the original was still there. I was flabbergasted. I had looked through the eyepiece and saw that the diamond was gone. There was no explaination for this. Yet, miraculously the diamond showed back up. It was a sign for me. It was a sign that God himself would miraculously replace what was gone in my marriage. He did. He worked a miracle. Do we have a perfect marriage? Absolutely not. But we celebrate 21 years this May and God gets all the glory for it.
